Prentice Coaches are a family owned and run award winning bus and Coach Company based
in Haddington, East Lothian, just 20 minutes from Edinburgh.
1991, they have now been providing coach travel of the highest standards for
almost a quarter of a century, to corporate clients, tourists and the local
ECOSTARS Edinburgh as a 4* member.
outlines below why ECOSTARS was the right scheme for Prentice Coaches:
Since we carried our first passengers in 1991 we have always
strived to keep improving both our coaches and the level of service we provide
to our customers. We invest heavily in new vehicles to ensure our fleet has a
young age profile, buying on average 2 new vehicles annually. This helps us
ensure that we run the most environmentally friendly vehicles available. We aim to continue to update our fleet
replacing older vehicles with new whenever possible.
We operate a wide
mix of coach sizes, (24-29-33-51-59-70 seats) which we believe sets us apart
from most operators as we can usually accommodate a particular customers need
if their group size increases or decreases. This also helps the environment as
smaller vehicles leave less of a carbon footprint than larger vehicles. For the
last 14 years we have operated wheelchair accessible coaches, one of the few in
our area. At present we have 17 vehicles in our fleet.
We are immensely proud to have won ‘Coach Operator of the
Year’ at both the 2012 & 2013
sponsored 'Operator Excellence Awards'
In November 2012
we won the 'Medium sized Coach Operator of the Year' category and in October
2013 we won for second year in a row by winning 'Small
Fleet - Coach Operator of the Year'. We have also been finalists in 2011 and
2014 in these prestigious awards. In 2014 we were also finalists in the ‘Top
Independent Operator’ category at the UK Bus Awards and runners up in ‘Business
of the Year’ at the inaugural Scottish Chambers of Commerce Business Honours.
believe that businesses are responsible for achieving good environmental
practice and operating in a sustainable manner and it was for these reasons
that we decided to join the Edinburgh ECOSTARS scheme. We are therefore
committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our
environmental performance as an integral and fundamental part of our business
strategy and operating methods.
It is our priority
to encourage our customers, suppliers and all business associates to do the
same. Not only is this sound commercial
sense for all, it is also a matter of delivering on our duty of care towards
